Cool World War 2 links
Here are links to some of the websites we looked at in class concerning rationing:
Farming in the 1940s – http://www.livinghistoryfarm.org/farminginthe40s/life_08.html
British rationing from 1940-1954 – http://www.historyonthenet.com/WW2/home_front.htm
World War II rationing on the American home front – http://www.ameshistoricalsociety.org/exhibits/events/rationing.htm (this is the one we spent time looking at in class).
A Canadian propaganda film made by Walt Disney studios (yes, you’ll see some of your favorite old Disney characters) called “All Together”.
“Scrap Happy Daffy” – Daffy Duck sings about all the things that Americans could turn in at scrap drives to help with the war effort (don’t forget that these cartoons depict the stereotypical / racist attitudes towards the Axis powers).
